The Holy Ghost
- John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"
- We need to be prepared to receive messages from the Spirit.
- To have the Holy Ghost with us, we need to:
- Seek for the guidance of the Spirit
- Be reverent
- Be humble
- Ponder and pray for the Spirit to be with us.
- Read the scriptures, for that is a way for the Lord to speak to us.
- Seek God's will.
- 2 Nephi 32:5 "For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do."
- What influence does/can the Holy Ghost have on us?
- Helps you to become "stronger" and confident.
- The Holy Ghost can bear witness that the Prophet Joseph Smith and our prophet today (and even all other prophets that have lived on this earth) are true Prophets of God.
- Will help guide you to forgive others.
- Can help answer questions that you may have been seeking an answer for, and he will guide you in your following steps and decisions.
- The Holy Ghost will help guide you through talk preparations and may even help inspire you as you are speaking.
- Bear witness of Jesus Christ, that He is truly the Savior of the world and our Heavenly Father's Son; the one that has sacrificed himself for us.
- Help you to influence others with things that you may say...be a speaker for the Lord; answering other people's prayers through you.
- When seeking for repentance, the Holy Ghost will assure you when you have been forgiven.
- During difficult life struggles, you may find comfort through the Holy Ghost.
- Matthew 3:16-17 "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
- John 17:20-23 "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."
